The Astoria Warming Center relies heavily on volunteers to operate the winter overnight shelter and the spring/summer/fall shower hours. Volunteers prepare and serve meals, monitor the overnight shelter, supervise shower hours and keep the shelter facility ready for use. The season is generally mid-November to mid-March. It’s never too late to volunteer! For more information contact the center at astoriawarmingcenter@gmail.com or leave a voicemail message at (760) 289-8932.
In addition to regular board member duties and activities, work with our warming center volunteers to fill nightly shifts and brainstorm other ways the volunteers can help. For more information contact the center at astoriawarmingcenter@gmail.com or leave a voicemail message at (760) 289-8932.
The main duties of a treasurer are to oversee the financial administration of the organization, review procedures and financial reporting, and advise the board on financial strategy. We contract with a 3rd party for bookkeeping services. For more information contact the center at astoriawarmingcenter@gmail.com or leave a voicemail message at (760) 289-8932.
The board is responsible for determining the mission and purposes of the organization, strategic and organizational planning, ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and financial management, fundraising and resource development, and more! We generally meet the 2nd Sunday of each month at 4pm in the Wesley Room in the Basement of the First United Methodist Church in Astoria. Use the side entrance on 11th. Feel free to attend a few meetings to see if it looks like you would enjoy contributing.
