Here are some updates,news items and resources from our research and outreach since our last progress report.
- Portland Street Medicine Organization. “Portland Street Medicine is a coalition of volunteer medical providers, social workers, care managers, and lay people dedicated to reaching our most forgotten citizens. Our clinic is in the streets, wherever and whenever people are congregating and leading an unsheltered life. We deliver high quality reliable care and build trust through empathy and continuity. As an unconventional volunteer clinical team, we also seek collaboration with any community organization or health system eager to clinically extend and enhance their street outreach efforts.” Read more.
- Tour of the Merwyn. We had the opportunity to tour the refurbished Merwyn apartments earlier this month and were very impressed with the creative quality of their work and their commitment to providing affordable housing. See Innovative Housing link.
- Building shelters with LA Conservation Corps. “Access to transitional housing in the City of Los Angeles is growing thanks to a partnership between Pallet and the LA Conservation Corps to build 425+ new shelters.
