Here are some updates,news items and resources from our research and outreach since our last progress report.
- Plans for Ending Homelessness. Oregon’s rate of homelessness ranks 4th highest of all 50 states. Clatsop County has the highest rate of homelessness in the state. On our website there is a list of several plans to end homelessness to demonstrate that planning, updating plans, and making a new plan have not solved the problem. As shown elsewhere on our website, many, many cities have successfully addressed homelessness. Throwing more (1) studies, (2) citizen task forces, and/or (3) money at the problem hasn’t solved the problem. What it takes is a willingness to actually implement the solutions that have already been shown to work! As one person in Clackamus County told us, “It requires the political will to do it.”
