Progress Report – December 2020

Here are some updates,news items and resources from our research and outreach since our last progress report.

1. Plans for Ending Homelessness. Oregon’s rate of homelessness ranks 4^th highest of all 50 states. Clatsop County has the highest rate of homelessness in the state. On our website there is a list of several plans to end homelessness to demonstrate that planning, updating plans, and making a new plan have not solved the problem. As shown elsewhere on our website, many, many cities have successfully addressed homelessness. Throwing more (1) studies, (2) citizen task forces, and/or (3) money at the problem hasn’t solved the problem. What it takes is a willingness to actually implement the solutions that have already been shown to work! As one person in Clackamus County told us, “It requires the political will to do it.”
