Who are we?

We’re a group of concerned individuals who care about the homeless in Clatsop County, Oregon!

What do we do?

Friends of the Unsheltered provides transitional housing (commonly referred to as three-quarter housing), case management, and emergency financial assistance to individuals moving beyond recovery programs who are not yet ready to move into permanent housing. Program participants typically have a history of substance abuse, incarceration, homelessnes, and/or mental health issues. Friends of the Unsheltered also provides education to the wider community on the plight of the unsheltered as well as highlighting solutions to homelessness.

Win-Win!

When people speak of the “homeless problem” there are actually two problems or perspectives. One is from the perspective of the “middle class” — business owners, home owners, tourists, etcetera. The other perspective is from those without secure, safe shelter. We’re advocates for both perspectives — we look for win-win solutions!
